For Fujitsu V8 Supercar series rookie Tom Tweedie the task of tackling Australia's most iconic mountain will be made somewhat easier this weekend, with the 23-year-old Sydney driver yesterday announcing that GPS Navigation specialists Garmin will now support his #26 MW Motorsport BF Falcon.

The automotive navigation side of Garmin will be of most interest to Tweedie as he looks to plot his way around the Mount Panorama circuit this weekend in what will be his first V8 Supercar start at the venue.

Tweedie has welcomed Garmin on board as he heads into one of the biggest races in his debut V8 Supercar year – currently placed 11th in the series after four rounds.

“I am very proud to be representing a great brand like Garmin who are leaders in their field and it is an enormous vote of confidence in me, the MW Racing Team and the sport that they have now come on board in 2011 to support me."

“Bathurst is the toughest, most demanding circuit of this season so far and the biggest test in my Rookie V8 Supercar season. I have some experience at the circuit in a Formula Ford at Easter this year which was a big help so I’m really excited about what this weekend holds."

“We want some strong results to lift the Garmin Falcon towards the front of the pack and into the top ten in the championship standings.”

"Maybe we can install a Garmin GPS on top of the dash so I can find my way around Mount Panorama over the first few laps."

A positive test at Winton Raceway recently has Tweedie match-fit ahead of this weekends’ fifth Fujitsu series round, where he will compete against a strong field as part of the three-car MW Motorsport team.

Tom Tweedie is also supported by Race Fit, Tizzana Vineyards and Palm Trans and thanks Global Welding Supplies and Land Surveys for their past support at Qld and WA earlier rounds.

The two races (one each on Friday and Saturday) this weekend will be broadcast live to a massive audience on the Seven Network – live on Channel 7 and in High Definition on 7mate.
